Tom Holland has confirmed that additional filming is taking place for Spider-Man: Brand New Day
, the upcoming fourth installment of the actor’s Spider-Man series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In an interview with GQ conducted to promote his partnership with fitness brand Vuori, Holland revealed that he shot additional scenes for the production in the United Kingdom. While principal photography for the project officially wrapped at the end of 2025, these new sequences are being integrated into the final cut ahead of the film’s summer premiere.
Holland emphasized that the reshoots are not intended to fix fundamental problems with the narrative, but are instead meant to polish the existing version of the movie.
I can positively say that the stuff we’re doing, we don’t need. The movie works and sings as it is. We’re just adding the icing on the cake in certain areas. We’re finding some ways to add a little bit more humour. We’re layering in a villain plotline in a new way and some really fun stuff.
Tom Holland to GQ
According to Holland, the primary goals of the April 2026 filming sessions are to increase the amount of comedy in the script and to revamp the focus of one of the film’s villainous subplots.
MCU Strategy and Production Context
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day
is one of only two Marvel Cinematic Universe films scheduled for theatrical release in 2026, the other being Avengers: Doomsday
.

The film arrives following a disappointing year for the MCU at the box office in 2025. Marvel and Sony are positioning the release as a critical opportunity to regain momentum with a strong commercial performance.
Audience anticipation for the project is already high. The film’s first trailer, released in March 2026, became the first trailer in history to surpass one billion views.
Cast and Antagonists
The production features an expansive cast, marking several significant reunions and introductions within the franchise. Peter Parker will reunite with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and encounter Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher.
The cast also includes:
- Sadie Sink
- Tramell Tillman
- Michael Mando
The film will introduce multiple antagonists. Michael Mando returns as Scorpion, who will feature a comics-accurate suit. Other confirmed villains include Boomerang, Tarantula and the ninjas of The Hand.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
is scheduled to open in theaters on July 31, 2026.
