britbox has given the green light to a six-part modern take on agatha ChristieS famed detective duo, Tommy and Tuppence. This new series joins other Christie adaptations on the streamer, including Towards Zero and Murder Is Easy.
Lookout Point, known for Happy Valley and Gentleman Jack, will produce the series in collaboration with BBC Studios and Agatha Christie Limited. Phoebe Eclair-Powell is set to write the series, marking her first major television drama commission. The series promises a blend of romance and mystery as the iconic detective duo solve crimes while navigating their complex relationship.
Robert Schildhouse, president of BritBox North America, said the new series offers a “contemporary twist” on the beloved characters. he added that audiences will ”fall in love with Tommy and Tuppence all over again as they navigate murder, mystery, and mischief.”
Eclair-Powell expressed her enthusiasm for the project. “As an Agatha Christie superfan, this job is a dream come true,” she said. “To bring Tommy and Tuppence into the twenty-first century is truly an honor.”
