Hong Kong Singer Tommy Yuen Arrested for Supermarket Theft

Tommy Yuen Man-on, 45, a Hong Kong singer and former member of the Cantopop group E-kids, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting. Police in To Kwa Wan spotted Yuen acting suspiciously,leading to the arrest.
Yuen allegedly stole 11 items, including drinks, candy, biscuits, and peanuts, from a Wellcome supermarket. The total value of the stolen goods was about HK$140 (US$18). A police spokesman said Yuen also possessed a credit card belonging to another individual.
The Kowloon City district investigation team is handling the case. Authorities contacted the credit card owner, a friend of Yuen, who retrieved the card at the police station.
Yuen previously served 26 months in jail for insulting police and officials and fabricating a fundraising story. This arrest for supermarket theft adds another chapter to the singer’s troubled past.
