Tony khan has hinted at a busy weekend for two of women’s wrestling’s biggest stars: Athena and Thunder Rosa. Both could be in action at AEW’s All In on Saturday, and ROH’s supercard of Honor the following day.
A Brewing Rivalry Spills Over
During the All In media call, Khan discussed the increasingly heated rivalry between ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and Thunder rosa. He indicated that both competitors are likely to appear on the cards for both major events.
“well, Athena and Thunder Rosa, I expect both of them will be involved in both events,” khan stated. “I think it’s great to have the Ring of Honor champion defending the world title on a major Ring of Honor event. but in the cases of both the Ring of Honor World championship matches, I think they’re both great matches. I have a lot of respect for all four wrestlers in both the world title matches.”
this feud has been building for months, playing out across both ROH and AEW programming. Khan believes the intensity of their rivalry makes it logical for them to clash on consecutive nights. Athena is scheduled to defend her ROH Women’s World championship against Thunder Rosa at Supercard of Honor.
Potential Double Duty: Supercard of Honor & All In
Khan elaborated on the possibility of seeing Athena and Thunder Rosa compete on back-to-back nights. He highlighted the storyline continuity, noting that Athena is coming off a tag team match against Thunder Rosa at Global Wars: Mexico.
“Now, for the champion Athena to come back here and be defending against somebody that she just competed against in Global Wars: Mexico in a tag team fight, and has been part of this brewing rivalry between Thunder Rosa and Athena on ROH TV. It’s spilled over into AEW TV in recent weeks as well, and I expect to see them both featured on both shows,” Khan explained. “of course, in this key World Championship match at Supercard of Honor, Athena versus Thunder Rosa for the ROH Championship at Supercard of Honor, and also to have both of them involved in the Casino gauntlet match, potentially if their numbers are called at AEW All In.”
The casino Gauntlet match is a high-stakes, multi-woman bout with a unique format. Participants enter at timed intervals, and the last woman standing earns a future championship chance.
Casino Gauntlet Lineup Taking Shape
The women’s Casino Gauntlet match at All in is already starting to take shape. Kris Statlander has been confirmed as the #1 entrant. Megan Bayne secured her spot as the second entrant after winning a qualifying match on the July 9th episode of AEW Dynamite.
With Athena and Thunder Rosa potentially joining the fray, the Casino Gauntlet is shaping up to be a must-see match, filled with intense competition and unpredictable twists. Fans will be watching closely to see if these two rivals will battle it out on both nights, adding another layer of excitement to what promises to be a monumental weekend for All Elite Wrestling and Ring of honor.
