Top 2026 Photography Awards: Sony A7V, Best Cameras & Smartphones Revealed by TIPA and Experts

The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) has announced the winners of its 2026 World Awards, recognizing 40 imaging products as the best in cameras, lenses, smartphones, and software selected by editors from 24 leading international photo and video publications.

Among the standout winners, the Sony Alpha 7 V was named Best Full Frame Expert Camera, praised for its partially stacked sensor, 30fps burst shooting, AI-assisted autofocus, and 7.5-stop in-body image stabilization. The Canon EOS R6 Mark III took the award for Best Hybrid Full Frame Camera, while the Nikon Z5II was honored as Best Full Frame Advanced Camera.

In the lens category, Sigma secured three awards: the 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art lens won Best Full Frame Wide-Angle Prime, the 200mm F2.0 DG OS | Sports lens was named Best Full Frame Telephoto, and the 20-200mm F/2.8-4 DG DN | Contemporary lens received recognition in its category. Tamron also earned two lens awards in the 2026 program.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra was selected as Best Photo Smartphone, marking a notable achievement in mobile imaging and distinguishing itself from competing flagship devices. For compact cameras, the Ricoh GR IV was awarded Best APS-C Compact Camera, celebrated on the 30th anniversary of the GR series.

Accessory awards included the Insta360 Go Ultra as Best ActionCam and the Godox AD800 Pro as Best Professional Portable Flash. TIPA also expanded its recognition of artificial intelligence in imaging, presenting awards in four AI-specific categories to Aftershoot, Evoto, and Viesus, up from a single AI category in 2023.

The 2026 TIPA World Awards were announced in Madrid on April 17, continuing a tradition that began in 1991 as one of the longest-running benchmarks in the photo and imaging industry. The awards are determined by judges from 24 member magazines across Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific, evaluating products on innovation, design, and user experience.
