Top 3 Potential Opponents for Gunther’s Heavyweight Championship After He Wins WWE Bash Berlin 2024

by Catherine Williams - Chief Editor

Gunther successfully defended his world title in his first title defense at the Berlin Bash.

Gunther captured the World Heavyweight Championship from Damian Priest at SummerSlam 2024. After winning his first world title in WWE, the Ring General defended the title against Randy Orton at WWE Bash in Berlin PLE in Berlin, Germany, just a few weeks later.

The Austrian won the match and retained his title after Orton went for the sleeper. In this recap, we take a look at Gunther’s top three potential opponents for the World Heavyweight Championship.

3. Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre was upset about Randy Orton winning the world title on SmackDown and ended up interfering with them on Raw three weeks ago, but Punk attacked him from behind to continue the feud. Punk joked after the show that their feud was over, but Drew was now in the fight for the world championship.

Drew had been in the running for the world title several times in the past, but was injured by Punk and never got a rematch. At this point, Drew could have legitimately challenged the Ring General for the world title.

2. Father Damien

Damian Priest lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther at WWE SummerSlam 2024 due to Finn Balor’s betrayal. Before going into a rematch to regain the world title, Priest felt that revenge for Judgment Day was more important.

Priest and Ripley defeated Dominik and Liv Morgan in a mixed tag team match at Bash in Berlin, despite interference from Judgement Day. Proving that nothing can stop Priest from winning the match, he can now challenge The Ring General for a rematch for the world title.

1. Cm punk

CM Punk recently got his revenge and took the strap from Drew McIntyre at the Berlin Bash, defeating him in a strap match. After the match, Punk was interviewed backstage and talked about the upcoming world title match between Randy Orton and Gunther.

Punk said he doesn’t care who wins and that he’s coming for the title. Nevertheless, after his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, Punk could be next in line for the world title at an upcoming event.
