Heartbreak in Marrakech: ‘The Perfect Picture’ Contestant Falls Just Short of the Finale
Marrakech, Morocco – Emotions ran high in the vibrant Moroccan city as “The Perfect Picture” competition reached its dramatic semi-final stage.Contestants Antoinette, Pauline, and Fenna faced a double challenge, tasked with capturing the essence of Marrakech through their lenses.
The first challenge saw the women seeking out a tranquil alleyway to create a still life photograph. Antoinette emerged victorious, earning a score of 7.3 for her captivating image. Pauline trailed behind with a 6, while Fenna received the lowest score of 5.4.
Undeterred,Fenna approached the second, decisive challenge with renewed determination. “Oké, 5.4? Yes, let’s go. (…) It can still be improved,” she declared, her competitive spirit undimmed.
This final challenge demanded a three-part portrait series that told a cohesive story. Pauline chose to portray the diverse faces of Moroccan womanhood, capturing a woman in a niqab, another with a headscarf, and a third representing the “modern” Moroccan woman. Fenna aimed to capture the wisdom and experience of three elderly Moroccan men, while Antoinette focused on the artistry of three local craftsmen.
Despite being a frontrunner throughout the season, Fenna’s Marrakech submissions failed to fully convince the judges. While she excelled in the second challenge, earning a respectable 7.8, it wasn’t enough to secure her a spot in the finale.
visibly emotional upon learning the results, Fenna reflected on her journey. ”I find it incredibly special that I got to experience this adventure with you all.To feel so comfortable with you all. It’s silly, becuase it’s just a game, a competition. But I’ve learned so much more than just photography here. And the warm welcome I received… I truly enjoyed it,” she said, her voice trembling with a mix of sadness and gratitude.
