Tornadoes sparked multiple warnings across several Central Savannah River Area counties as severe weather spun off from Hurricane Isaias on October 10, 2026, according to WIS reporting that detailed damage to multiple homes, downed power lines, and widespread flash-flood alerts.
Burke County Structural Damage And Downed Lines
News 12 drone video revealed damage to at least three homes on Story Mill Road in Burke County, situated roughly halfway between Hephzibah and Waynesboro. Two houses lost parts of their roofs, while an entire side was taken out of a third structure. Vehicles in the area were overturned by the winds. Officials confirmed that four structures were destroyed and power lines were downed along Highway 80 West, though no injuries were reported in Burke County.
Confirmed Tornado Path Across Screven And Allendale Counties
The storm system spawned an earlier tornado in Screven County, leaving trees down in a 200-yard path near Old Savannah Highway and Highway 21. Viewers captured video of a classic stovepipe tornado sweeping through the area along Highway 21. Meanwhile, a lightning strike ignited a house fire in Screven County during the severe weather.
Widespread Tornado Warnings In Aiken And Saluda Counties
Aiken County fell under a tornado warning until 6:30 p.m. as a confirmed tornado tracked through the New Holland area near Aiken State Park. The rotation continued north into Saluda County, prompting a separate warning until 6:45 p.m. for southeastern Saluda County and west-central Lexington County as a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado moved over Batesburg-Leesville at 30 miles per hour. Forecasters warned residents of dangerous flying debris, potential destruction of mobile homes, and severe tree damage.

Flash Flooding And Highway Closures Across The Region
Heavy rainfall accompanied the severe weather, triggering flash-flood warnings for Richmond and Burke counties that remained in effect until 6:30 p.m. Viewers reported two inches of rain at Highway 56 and Tobacco Road in south Augusta, with total rainfall accumulations reaching two to three inches and threatening an additional one to three inches. Emergency managers urged drivers to avoid flooded roadways, noting significant water accumulation along portions of Interstate 520 and Interstate 20 in both Georgia and South Carolina.
The severe weather outbreak follows Hurricane Isaias making landfall near Destin as a tropical system before weakening and sending outer bands across Georgia and South Carolina.
