Daystar Peterson, known professionally as Tory Lanez, was convicted in December 2022 of three felony charges stemming from the July 12, 2020, shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in the Hollywood Hills (Los Angeles times). The charges included assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Prosecutors argued lanez intentionally shot Megan Thee Stallion during an argument after a party.
During the trial, Megan Thee Stallion testified that Lanez shot her in the feet after an argument in an SUV. Lanez maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, and his defence team attempted to cast doubt on Megan Thee Stallion’s account. (Rolling Stone)
