The Al-Aur area witnessed on the night of Monday 8/26, and extending until dawn on Tuesday 8/27/2024 AD, a dust storm, strong winds, heavy rain, and great flood. It resulted in great losses in properties, homes, and educational and health institutions.
According to preliminary statistics, the total damage to houses reached about (920) houses, and the partial damage to about (2,876) houses in the various local villages of Wahda Al-Gold and Dongola Al-Agouz. Also, the collapse of approximately (18) low voltage electricity poles, a fire of (79) agricultural irrigation motors per meter, damage to the wires of one of the projects in the area, and the complete collapse of a school and the collapsed part of a number of (22) of schools.
These damages are considered catastrophic for the citizens of Al-Gold area, due to the heavy rains and torrential rains that swept through several villages in Dongola Al-Agouz unit and Al-Aur unit, which caused damage that led to the total and partial collapse of hundreds of homes, as well as the partial collapse of a very large number of homes. Collapses continue, due to the large amounts of water inside the neighborhoods.

The executive director of Al-Gold district, Abdul Majeed Dahab, announced to SUNA that the damage was great, as many citizens lost their properties as a result of the heavy rain that hit the area. He appealed to citizens to stay away from living in flood streams, and to work on opening drains and draining water from house roofs.
He confirmed that the Chamber had intervened and brought in mechanisms to restore the dams, protecting a number of areas from flooding.
