Tottenham Hotspur have reported “vile, dehumanising” abuse directed at defender Kevin Danso to the police, the club confirmed on 19 April 2026.

The club issued a statement condemning racist abuse aimed at the Austrian international following an incident during their Premier League match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on 16 April 2026. Tottenham said the abuse occurred both online and in the stadium, with multiple instances of discriminatory language targeted at Danso after he came on as a second-half substitute.

Danso, who joined Tottenham from Lens in the summer of 2025, has made 28 appearances across all competitions this season, establishing himself as a regular in the defensive rotation under manager Ange Postecoglou. The 26-year-old centre-back started the match on the bench before being introduced in the 67th minute to replace Cristian Romero, who was substituted due to a minor knock.

In their official statement, Tottenham said: “We are disgusted by the vile, dehumanising abuse aimed at Kevin Danso. Such behaviour has no place in football or society. We have reported the matter to the police and are working with the Premier League and relevant authorities to ensure those responsible are identified and held accountable.”

The club added that We see offering full support to Danso and his family, including access to welfare and mental health services. Tottenham reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward discrimination and urged anyone with information about the abuse to come forward.
