Rui Oliveira of UAE Team Emirates-XRG sprinted to victory on Stage 2 of the Tour of Slovenia, marking his first professional win. The Portuguese cyclist was part of a seven-man breakaway that formed in the final 20 kilometers of the 163 km stage.
Fabio Christen (Q36.5) finished second, having been part of the day’s earlier breakaway.Anders Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility) secured third place. The main group, led by Niccolò Parisini (Q36.5), crossed the finish line 53 seconds later.
Sjoerd Bax (Q36.5) initiated the late attack, joined by Oliveira, Christen, Johannessen, Tao Geoghegan Hart (Lidl-Trek), Felix Großschartner (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), and Jakob ormzel (Bahrain Victorious). Their coordinated effort successfully held off the chasing peloton, building nearly a minute’s advantage.
