Spanish actor José de la Torre, known for his role as Iván in the Netflix drama “Toy Boy,” has died at the age of 37.
De la Torre passed away on december 5th after a long battle with an undisclosed illness, according to Spanish publication Montilla Digital. A funeral service was held in Spain the following day.
In June, de la Torre publicly revealed his diagnosis with a ”serious illness” adn stepped away from acting to focus on treatment.
De la Torre was a prominent cast member in “Toy Boy” from its premiere in 2019 until its conclusion in 2021. The popular series, which ran for three seasons, followed the story of Hugo Beltrán, a stripper wrongly convicted of a crime and imprisoned for seven years.
Beyond “Toy Boy,” de la Torre appeared in 36 episodes of the long-running Spanish soap opera “Amar es para siempre” (“To Love Forever”).The show,set in the 1960s,depicted the social and economic resurgence of the Spanish working class through the lens of a fictional tavern.
De la Torre also had roles in shows like “Vis a Vis: El Oasis” and “Serve and Protect.”
He is survived by his parents,Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo and Maria Jose Delgado Espejo,and his sister,Marina.
