Toyota reported its strongest sales performance in Europe in 2025, delivering 1,229,038 vehicles and achieving its best-ever annual result in the region, according to data released by Toyota Motor Europe.

The figure represents a one percent increase compared to the previous year, driven significantly by growth in commercial vehicle sales and electrified models.

Commercial vehicle sales rose by 19 percent to 158,270 units, while electrified models—including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles—increased by five percent to reach 948,042 units sold across Europe.

Electrified models accounted for 76 percent of Toyota’s total European sales in 2025, amounting to 868,080 vehicles, with stronger penetration in Western Europe at 78 percent compared to 60 percent in Eastern Europe.

The Toyota brand maintained its second-place position in the European passenger vehicle market with 1,143,963 units sold, reflecting a one percent year-on-year increase.

Key volume drivers included the Yaris Cross, which surpassed 200,000 units in sales, and both the Yaris and Corolla model families, each exceeding the 150,000-unit threshold.

Among electrified models, the Yaris Cross and Yaris Hybrid led sales, while the Toyota C-HR, available as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid variant, secured third place in the electrified lineup.

Meanwhile, Lexus reported a minimal decline of 3.5 percent in European sales for 2025, with 85,075 vehicles delivered.

Of the Lexus vehicles sold, 79,962 were either fully electric, plug-in hybrid, or hybrid electric models, representing 94 percent of the brand’s total European volume—up from 91 percent in 2024.

In Western Europe, Lexus achieved a milestone where all models sold in the region were electrified, marking the first time the brand recorded zero sales of vehicles powered solely by internal combustion engines in those markets.

These results align with Toyota’s broader strategy to expand its battery electric vehicle offerings in Europe, with plans to launch six new EV models by 2026, including the bZ4X, Urban Cruiser, and C-HR+ variants targeting the B, C, and D-SUV segments.

The company states that these upcoming battery electric vehicles will play a key role in its multi-pathway approach to achieving carbon neutrality across its operations and product lineup.
