Tracey emin’s Brutally Intimate works on Display at Yale Center

The Yale Center for British Art is hosting “I Loved You Until The Morning,” an exhibition of Tracey Emin’s emotionally charged works. The show features 19 large-scale acrylic paintings, along with bronze sculptures and drawings. The Tracey Emin exhibit explores themes of love, pain, and the complexities of the female experience.
Emin’s art evokes strong reactions. One museum visitor described the paintings as representing ”all the mistakes I made with women.” Another visitor said the art made her relive 40 years of menstruation, including cramps, emotional swings and abortions.
The titles of Emin’s pieces read like a memoir, with phrases such as I said No, And It was Love, and I Followed you to the end. The exhibition is curated by Martina Droth, and a catalog with an essay accompanies the show.

emin’s paintings feature layered thin paint, with blood red drips and inky black obscuring thin blue lines. The works convey fury, compassion, violence, and pain.
emin, elected to the Royal Academy in 2007, became its Eranda Professor of Drawing in 2011. In 2020,she established the Tracey Emin Artist Residency (TEAR) in Margate,Kent,offering free classes and studio space to artists.
Emin has also exhibited with artists such as Egon Schiele,Edvard Munch,and J. M. W. Turner. Her sculpture The Mother stands at the munch Museum in Oslo as a tribute to mothers and the Earth.
