Xue Passenger Transport Bus Involved in Fatal Accident
(Central News Agency Reporters Zhao Lian and Zheng Weizhen, Taichung, the 27th) Xue Passenger Transport Bus No. 305 was involved in a fatal accident, hitting a female college student named Lin from Tonghai University.
On the 22nd, the bus was passing along the road in front of Miyahara Ophthalmology Department in Taichung City, Central District, when it hit two Tunghai University students who were walking at a zebra crossing, killing one and injuring one.
Han Hongkai, spokesman for Xue Passenger Transport, explained that at 9:13 p.m. on the 22nd, the car stopped at the green light on Luchuan East Street and then turned left on Zhongshan Road at the green light at about 15 kilometers per hour. The driver named Xi did not implement the intersection stop policy and did not stop and looked away, causing him to fail to notice a pedestrian crossing on the right, resulting in a collision with a pedestrian.
Xue Passenger Transport has proposed four major development plans to improve safety:
- Intensify the campaign on driving safety, conducting regular checks to create awareness about driving safety and laws.
- Strengthen traffic monitoring at every intersection and conduct random vehicular inspections, issuing violations immediately if found.
- Strengthen training on the operation of driving safety assistance systems and real-time analysis of driving behavior, focusing on the supervision of those who objectively have potential risk factors.
- Impose penalties for driving safety violations, and deal with serious situations or any improvement results inappropriately.
Xue Passenger Transport said the company and its drivers will never shirk the legal and social responsibilities they bear and hopes to provide high-quality services to citizens in the future.
