New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo moto cognizance of the case of Anna Sebastiano, a young woman who died due to work-related stress.
Commission Seeks Detailed Inquiry Report
The Commission has sought a detailed inquiry report from the Union Ministry of Labour, which is to be submitted within four weeks.
Anna Sebastiano, a chartered accountant, died of a heart attack at her residence in Pune on July 20. The incident has sparked controversy after the letter sent by Anna’s mother to the company director regarding her daughter’s death was released.
Family Demands Government Intervention
The family has made it clear that they will not pursue any legal action over Anna’s death. Instead, they are seeking government intervention to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje and Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandavya have responded by saying that action will be taken based on facts after Anna’s death is discussed.
EY officials have expressed their condolences over Anna’s death and have assured that they will provide all necessary help to the family.
