A recent knife attack in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, has drawn widespread attention. A 10-year-old boy was attacked on his way to school, approximately 200 meters away from the Shenzhen Japanese School. The police report stated that the injured minor’s surname was “Shen,” sparking speculation among netizens about the nationality of the schoolchild.

According to internal media reports, the incident occurred in the morning in Nanshan District, Shenzhen City. The injured boy’s surname was Shen. The police quickly arrived at the scene and arrested a 44-year-old suspect, Zhong, and sent the injured to the hospital for rescue. Japanese media reported that the Japanese Consulate General in Guangzhou released news that the Japanese boy was stabbed in the abdomen and died in the early morning.
Japanese Government Response
The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held a press conference to express concerns about the incident and emphasized that it will strengthen protective measures for Japanese citizens in China. Japanese Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroshi Moriya also said that he has made requests to the local government to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

After the incident, the Japanese school in Shenzhen was immediately closed, and security measures around it were strengthened.
