Liverpool Mourns the Loss of Lifelong Fan Philip Dooley
Tragedy struck ahead of the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League match between Liverpool and AC Milan, as a devoted Reds fan lost his life in a car accident in Bergamo, Italy.
Philip Joseph Dooley, a 51-year-old Liverpool supporter, was identified by police as the victim of the fatal crash. Dooley was en route to the San Siro stadium, where he was set to watch the match, when the SUV he was in collided with another vehicle while crossing the road in Bergamo at approximately 1 am. Two eyewitnesses provided statements to the Italian authorities.
Liverpool Football Club has expressed its deepest condolences, stating that the club is “saddened by the death of lifelong supporter Philip Dooley following his accident in Bergamo.” The club’s staff in Milan are working closely with the police to provide support. “Our thoughts are with Philip’s family, friends, and all supporters during this difficult time,” the club said.
