Motorcycle Taxi Driver Killed in Avrankou, Benin
A motorcycle taxi driver, commonly known as a “zémidjan,” was shot dead by robbers on Monday, September 23, 2024, in Avrankou, in the department of Ouémé.
A tragic incident occurred on Monday, September 23, 2024, around 5 am in Avrankou, resulting in the death of a motorcycle taxi driver. The victim was en route to the Adjarra market with a customer when he was stopped by strangers.
Believing the strangers to be customs officials, the driver attempted to justify the packages his client was carrying, which he claimed were not contraband. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when the driver was thrown from the motorcycle. The robbers then shot him and stole the Bajaj motorcycle, which was only two months into its contract.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
