Tragedy Strikes: Devastating Bus Crash Outside Chinese School Claims 11 Lives
Tragic Bus Accident in Eastern China Claims 11 Lives and Injures 24 Others
A devastating bus accident occurred in front of a middle school in eastern China on September 3, resulting in the loss of 11 lives and injuring 24 others.
The accident took place at approximately 7 a.m. in front of Foshan Middle School in Dongping City, Shandong Province, on the second day of the new school year. According to China Central Television (CCTV), the incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community.
Dongping City Police reported that among the 11 fatalities, six were parents, and five were students. Of the injured, one person sustained serious injuries, while the remaining 12 were in stable condition.
According to the police investigation, the bus involved in the accident was used to transport students to school. The vehicle lost control while approaching an intersection and crashed into the crowd. The driver has been arrested, and the incident is currently under investigation.
As the new school year commences, China has emphasized the need for enhanced security measures on school campuses. To alleviate concerns about children’s safety, measures such as the use of school buses, anti-collision barriers on roads, and traffic police patrols are being implemented, as reported by the People’s Daily on September 1.
Although it is unclear whether this morning’s accident was an intentional attack on children, there have been several unfortunate incidents this year. In June, a man attacked a school bus stop in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.
Earlier in March, a man in Dezhou, Shandong Province, drove his car into a crowd in front of a local high school, killing two pedestrians and seriously injuring six others. The 46-year-old man was later arrested by local police.
