Tragic Incident: Mathayom 4 Student Falls to Death from School Building
Incident Report
On September 11, 2024, at 12:20 PM, police officers from Muang Samut Prakan Police Station were informed of a student who had fallen from a school building and died. The incident occurred in front of Building 6, a famous school in Samut Prakan, Pak Nam Sub-district, Mueang District, Samut Prakan Province.
Scene of the Incident
The scene of the incident was in front of Building 6, a 6-story school building, approximately 6 meters from the school building. Officers found the body of the deceased, a 17-year-old Mathayom 4 student who had a serious wound on her head that ran down her face.
Investigation
The police investigation revealed that the student had jumped from the 4th floor of the building, which was over 15 meters high, and had fallen to the ground and died instantly. The student had a history of depression and had been treated in a hospital in Bangkok.
School Principal’s Statement
The school principal revealed that the student was a good student who had been studying in the Science-Mathematics stream. The student had problems with depression and stress and had been treated in a hospital from Mathayom 1. The school had a system to take care of sick students, and the student’s parents had been informed of her condition.
Deputy Director’s Statement
Mr. Watcharin Tokhao, Deputy Director of Samut Prakan Secondary Education Service Area Office, stated that the school had been taking care of the student and that the parents had been informed of her condition. The student had symptoms of depression, but the parents did not think that it would lead to a serious incident.
Father’s Statement
The father of the deceased student revealed that his daughter had been depressed due to various factors, including bullying by a friend and the family’s financial situation. The father had tried to console his daughter by buying her sweets, but she had stopped doing her homework and had become more stressed. The father had called his daughter during lunch break, but she had turned off her phone. Less than 5 minutes later, the father received a call from the school that his daughter had fallen from the building.
Psychological Support
The school has coordinated with provincial psychologists to provide support to the students who witnessed the incident. The psychologists will be at the school tomorrow to provide counseling to the students.
