Car Crash in Hsinchu City Kills One and Injures Six
(Central News Agency reporter Guo Xuantan, Hsinchu County, 17) A car crashed in front of Hulin Junior High School in Hsinchu City yesterday, killing one person and injuring six.
The Hsinchu District Prosecutor’s Office said the driver, surnamed Peng, was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs and causing death. The office will apply to the Hsinchu District Court for an injunction to detain Peng, citing the risk of him fleeing or destroying evidence.
According to the Hsinchu District Prosecutor’s Office, Peng was driving a passenger car when he collided with a motorcycle ridden by Zhong NV, resulting in a total of six people injured. The accident is believed to have been caused by Peng’s alleged use of drugs.
The Hsinchu District Prosecutor’s Office will lead forensic doctors to conduct a physical examination of Peng and launch crime victim protection and care systems. The Hsinchu Crime Protection Branch will also provide victims with medical, legal, and psychological support.
The prosecutor stated that they will thoroughly investigate the truth as soon as possible, clarify the facts, and punish those responsible strictly according to the law to protect the public interest.
