Wild Boar Family Hit by Taxi in Aberdeen: A Tragic Incident of Animal Cruelty

A devastating incident occurred on Aberdeen Reservoir Road, where a taxi driver collided with a family of four wild boars, resulting in the death of at least one wild boar and serious injuries to another. The accident happened at 7:23 pm, and witnesses reported that the taxi driver attempted to flee the scene after the collision.

A video recording of the incident, uploaded online, shows the taxi driving uphill without slowing down, despite the presence of the wild boar family on the road. A passerby can be heard shouting “No” and “crazy” as the taxi hits the wild boars. The taxi driver then attempts to accelerate and flee, but is stopped by a passerby.

Roni, an officer from the Hong Kong Wild Boar Concern Group, condemned the incident as a clear case of animal cruelty. He stated that the taxi driver should be arrested and held accountable for his actions. Roni also quoted witnesses who reported that the passengers in the taxi had warned the driver about the presence of the wild boars, but he chose to ignore them.

Under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Ordinance, anyone who causes unnecessary suffering to animals can face a maximum fine of $200,000 and imprisonment for three years. The incident highlights the need for stricter laws and enforcement to protect animals from cruelty and abuse.

The Hong Kong Wild Boar Concern Group is calling for the public to report any incidents of animal cruelty and to support their efforts in protecting wild boars and other animals in Hong Kong.
