Director of Keelung Land Department Dies
Keelung City Government Land Affairs Department Director Wang Yingzhe was found dead after falling from his home building on September 12, 2024.
According to the police investigation, Wang Yingzhe fell from the house at 11 pm on September 11. The Railway Police Department completed the examination and initially ruled out external factors.
Yang Xiao, the current deputy speaker of the Keelung City Council and Wang Yingzhe’s sister-in-law, stated that the dispute over the property rights of East Coast Mall had nothing to do with Wang Yingzhe’s death. She emphasized that Wang Yingzhe had no power over the matter and should not be involved in the family members without reason.
Mayor Ji Guoliang canceled his public schedule to express his condolences to the family. The city government noted that Wang Yingzhe had been under considerable pressure recently due to the disputes over property rights of the Keelung East Coast Plaza.
Several neighbors heard a commotion nearby before Wang Yingzhe fell from the building. The real truth is yet to be revealed through the police investigation.
Wang Yingzhe was 55 years old and had been serving as the Director of Keelung City Land Department. His death has been reported to the prosecutor of the Keelung District Prosecutor’s Office for examination.
Wang Yingzhe’s family has requested the prosecutor to conduct an examination to explain the cause of death. The deceased was identified as a male director of the Keelung City Land Affairs Office, surnamed Wang.
Wang Yingzhe’s father is a former Keelung City Councilor, and his sister-in-law is Yang Xiaoyu, the current Deputy Speaker of the Keelung City Council.
