Security Concerns in Sarajevo Amidst Migrant Conflict

The recent murder⁢ of a migrant ‌in the Stupa conflict has reignited concerns about‍ security in Sarajevo. A series of incidents, including the shooting in Nevesinje, the drowning‍ of ⁤migrants in the Drina ⁣river, frequent clashes on the‍ streets‍ of Sarajevo, and ⁤the presence of drugs⁤ in camps, have ⁤prompted authorities to take action.

Žarko‌ Laketa, director of the Service of Affairs with Foreigners, emphasized⁣ the importance of securing the state border. Following ‌the latest incident, the service conducted checks in its databases and identified the ⁤victim as an Afghan ⁤citizen registered at the‌ Lipa Temporary Reception Centre.

Laketa stressed ‌the need⁤ for cooperation among all security structures within Bosnia and Herzegovina. He highlighted⁣ the Service’s efforts to address the issue,‍ including operational steps‌ taken in Blažuj and ‍Lipa in collaboration with other security agencies.

A specific group of Afghan migrants ⁣involved in ⁤organized crime has been identified as ‍a key concern. These‍ individuals are suspected of facilitating the transfer of ‍migrants from‍ Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina ⁤and Croatia, and are believed to be linked to recent incidents.
