Catholic Church of Togo Mourns Another Death
The Catholic Church of Togo is in mourning once again with the passing of Reverend Father Paul AMEGASHIE, Rector of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows and priest of the parish of Saint Boniface in Kovié.
The news of Father AMEGASHIE’s death comes as the church is still reeling from the unexpected death of Mr. Nicodème Barrigah, and preparations are underway for his burial.
According to Mr. Isaac-Jogues A.GAGLO, Apostolic Administrator of Lomé, “The Lord has visited us again under the sign of the Cross! This morning, as I prepared to welcome the mortal remains of our late Archbishop to the Brawdhome, I received the painful and surprising announcement of the death of Reverend Father Paul AMEGASHIE.”
Father AMEGASHIE was a member of the African Mission Society (SMA) and passed away on September 2, 2024. He was the administrator of the shrine of Kovié, a place of great pilgrimage for Catholics.
