Tragic Death of 17-Year-Old Giovani Mvogo Sparks Family’s Doubts and Calls for Witnesses in Rosario
Giovani Mvogo, a 17-year-old from the Puente Gallego neighborhood in Rosario, Argentina, went missing on Wednesday night and was found dead early Thursday morning. Police labeled the case a suicide, but his family doubts this explanation after observing certain clues at the scene.
Giovani’s body showed a significant head injury, and he was found on a pool of blood. The official death certificate stated he suffered “severe trauma from a fall,” but it did not provide additional details. His body was not reported in the media for two days due to the police’s ruling.
Witnesses reported seeing a body at Parque España around 5 a.m. A doctor confirmed his death shortly after. Giovani was identified by his documents. His family questioned the suicide claim, especially since the visible injuries did not match what they would expect from a fall from such height. They noted his body was wet and showed signs of decomposition, raising further concerns.
During his disappearance, a neighbor mentioned seeing Giovani at a bus stop with police nearby. His family began searching in local police stations, fearing he might have been detained. They learned he was found dead only after a day of searching.
On the night he disappeared, Giovani had been visiting his girlfriend, and they argued. He later requested money from his mother for a drink while at a kiosk but went missing soon after. His cell phone and transport card were also missing when he was found.
The family, along with the local African community, is focusing on finding witnesses and gathering more information. They received testimonies suggesting an altercation occurred near the Monumento that night.
Due to financial constraints, the Tanzanian Association organized a fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses. They emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and accountability, not just labeling the case as a suicide.
Giovani’s father expressed doubt about the suicide narrative, especially considering his son’s injuries. He highlighted the presence of surveillance cameras in the area and pressed law enforcement to review the footage.
Giovani’s funeral took place after his body was taken back to Santiago del Estero. The family continues to seek witnesses or anyone with information about the events of that night. They can be reached at 3413094234.
