Tragic House Fire in UK Claims Lives of Two Children

Two young children have died in a house fire in Wolverhampton, West Midlands police have confirmed. Emergency services were called to the property on Mason Street in the south of the city at about 8:30pm on Friday, April 24, 2026.
Firefighters entered the property and rescued the two children, but despite administering advanced life support, both were pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance crews. Two other children and a woman were already out of the house when emergency services arrived and did not require hospital treatment.
West Midlands Police said they are working to establish the cause of the fire and have cordoned off the extensively damaged property. Officers remain at the scene as inquiries continue, and the police have asked anyone with information to contact them on 101 or via live chat, quoting log 5640 of 24 April.
In a joint statement, emergency services said: “Our thoughts are with the children’s loved ones and all those impacted by this heartbreaking incident. Police have cordoned off the scene as officers work with emergency service colleagues to establish the exact circumstances of the fire.”
