[TV리포트=박혜리 기자] Webtoon artist Yoo Young (real name Lee Yu-young) has passed away. He was 41 years old.

On the 24th, Kakao Entertainment announced, “Writer Yoo Young, who serialized ‘Yeolmu and Altar’ on Kakao Webtoon and Kakao Page for five years starting in 2019, passed away on September 23, 2024.” They continued, “We are heartbroken to deliver this sad news to readers who loved ‘Yeolmu and Altar.’ Please check the author’s personal account for more details, and we pray for the repose of the deceased’s soul.”

The news of death was also posted on writer Yoo Young’s personal account. “Writer Lee Yoo-young, the serial writer of ‘Yeolmu and Altar’, passed away on the 23rd from cardiac arrest while sleeping. I would like to express my gratitude to the readers who have truly loved ‘Yeolmu and Altar’,” the post read. “Yul and Kwon from ‘Yeolmu and Altar’ are taking care of their mother together with their father. I apologize for suddenly delivering such sad news,” the post read.

Netizens expressed sadness and regret as they watched the end of writer Yoo Young, saying things like, “I can’t stop crying,” “I watched it every week, but it’s disappointing,” “I can’t believe it,” and “I cried and laughed together with the writer’s story. I’m going to miss it so much.”

‘Yeolmu and Altar’ has been serialized on Daum Webtoon (now Kakao Webtoon) since 2019, and has gained popularity for its depiction of raising twins with disabilities and non-disabled children. It has garnered much attention from readers for its detailed depiction of the process from the birth of the two children to their growth and entry into elementary school. As of the 12th, a total of 244 episodes have been serialized, and about ten days ago, the author announced a hiatus to recharge.

The funeral will be held in room 5 of the Daejeon Konyang University Hospital funeral hall, and the funeral will be held at noon on the 25th.
