Tragic Loss: Canadian Actor Julien Arnold Passes During ‘A Christmas Carol’ Performance
The theater community is grieving. Julien Arnold, a Canadian stage actor and founder of the Free Will Players Shakespeare theater company, died on November 24. He suffered a medical emergency during a performance of A Christmas Carol at Edmonton’s Citadel Theatre. He was 60 years old.
The details of his medical issue are not public. Paramedics arrived at the theater at 8:28 p.m. They made multiple attempts to resuscitate Arnold. He was performing as Marley, Mr. Fezziwig, Banjo, and in the ensemble at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Alberta Health Services spokesperson Kerry Williamson.
In response to Arnold’s death, the theater will adjust the remaining dates of its A Christmas Carol production. The show is scheduled to run until December 24. The changes will give the cast and crew time to mourn.
