Nong May’s Tragic Story: A Young Woman’s Fight for Survival
Nong May, a 30-year-old employee, lost her life due to intestinal ischemia and gangrene after being forced to work despite her poor health.
The incident occurred in an industrial area in Samut Prakan province, where Nong May worked. Despite her serious illness, her supervisor requested a doctor’s note, forcing her to work for 20 minutes before being rushed to the hospital.
On September 17, a funeral prayer ceremony was held at Walukaram Temple in Sukhothai Province, where Nong May’s family and friends gathered to pay their respects.
Nong May’s mother, Mrs. Sawat, revealed that her daughter was the main breadwinner for the family, supporting her two daughters who are studying in Mathayom 1 and 3. Mrs. Sawat also shared that she had to borrow 37,000 baht to cover the funeral expenses.

Nong May’s eldest daughter, Nong Bai Phlu, expressed her grief, saying, “I’m sorry, and I want to tell you that I love you so much. I’ll study hard to complete Mathayom 6 and take care of my grandmother and younger siblings.”

Officials from the Social Development and Human Security, Sukhothai Province, and the Ban Tanot Subdistrict Township have offered assistance to Nong May’s family, including funeral expenses, death benefits, and old-age allowances.
