Ryan Kobayashi, the father of missing Hawaii woman Hannah Kobayashi, has died by apparent suicide. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the 58-year-old father jumped from a parking structure near LAX around 4 a.m. on Sunday.
Hannah, 30, went missing after she missed her connecting flight to New York from LAX. Family expected to see her on November 8.
A vigil was held outside Crypto.com Arena to honor Hannah, who remains missing.
Family reported receiving strange text messages from Hannah on November 11. She mentioned someone trying to steal her identity. All calls from that day went directly to voicemail, and the family has not heard from her since.
Surveillance footage captured Hannah boarding a Metro at Pico Station on November 18.
Laire Pidgeon, Hannah’s aunt, expressed frustration that authorities are not taking the disappearance seriously. She said, “Just because she doesn’t have a mental illness and just because she is not elderly doesn’t mean something didn’t happen to her.”
Hannah was last seen wearing black leggings, a tie-dye sweatshirt, and carrying a green backpack.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact the LAPD.
