The Incident at Bologna ⁢Centrale

On the night ‌of January 6, 2026, Alessandro Ambrosio, a 34-year-old train conductor, was‍ stabbed in the abdomen in the west square car park of ⁢Bologna Centrale station. The area is reserved‍ for employee parking. The attack, seemingly without⁤ motive, resulted in Ambrosio’s death.

The suspect, identified as Marin Jelenik, a 36-year-old Croatian national,⁢ fled the scene instantly after the stabbing.

The Manhunt and Apprehension

Following the ​attack, a nationwide search was launched for Jelenik. His photograph was circulated to all law enforcement patrols. Initial reports indicated Jelenik boarded a regional train ‌towards Milan shortly after ‌the crime.

He was later apprehended in ​Desenzano del Garda,less than 24 hours after the stabbing,thanks to a fingerprint comparison system utilized by​ the Desenzano del Garda police station.⁣ Jelenik was found‍ without ‍identification documents.
