The first two carriages of the Renfe train, carrying 37 and 16 passengers respectively, sustained the most damage. They were thrown off the tracks and fell down a 4-meter embankment. On the othre train, Iryo, which carried approximately 300 people, carriages 6 and 8 were severely damaged in the collision.Passengers have given accounts to several Spanish media outlets.
