Transat Cancels US Flights From Montreal & Quebec City

Air Transat Suspends All U.S. Flights This Spring

– Air Transat is ending all flights to the United States this spring, marking a significant shift in the Canadian airline’s route network. The decision impacts flights to both Florida destinations, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, and represents a scaling back of operations for the Montreal-based carrier.

Flights from Montreal to Orlando will cease on . Services connecting Quebec City and Fort Lauderdale are scheduled to end on , with flights from Montreal to Fort Lauderdale also being discontinued in May and June, according to a spokesperson for Air Transat.

The airline framed the move as part of “proactive capacity management,” focusing resources on markets where it believes it can more effectively compete. Air Transat currently operates 67 destinations, with a core focus on routes to Europe, the Caribbean, and Mexico.

While the possibility of resuming flights to Florida next fall and winter has not been ruled out, a decision will be made at a later date. The airline previously operated as many as two flights a day to Florida, a popular destination for Canadian “snowbirds” and those visiting theme parks like Walt Disney World.

The suspension of U.S. Flights comes shortly after Air Transat cancelled all flights to Cuba until due to a critical fuel shortage on the island. That decision followed similar moves by Air Canada and WestJet, leaving many travellers scrambling to find alternative travel arrangements.

According to the airline, its U.S. Operations represented only one per cent of its total available seat-kilometre capacity for the summer season. With only two of its 67 destinations located in the U.S., the impact on overall operations is expected to be limited.

The move by Air Transat follows a similar announcement from WestJet earlier this week, which announced it was cutting service to 10 U.S. Cities due to declining demand. Flights out of Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg to destinations including Nashville, Los Angeles, Tampa and San Francisco were among those affected.

Travellers who have already booked flights to Fort Lauderdale or Orlando for the summer of 2026 are being contacted by Air Transat to discuss their options, which include reimbursement or rebooking, subject to availability. The airline is “in the process of communicating with affected customers to offer them support,” a spokesperson said.
