Transavia Adds New Flights to Albania and Belgium from Bordeaux
Transavia Expands Bordeaux Network with Two New European Routes
Bordeaux, France – Budget airline Transavia is doubling down on its presence in Bordeaux, announcing two new routes to popular European destinations. Starting April 18, travelers will be able to fly directly to Brussels, Belgium, twice a week. A second route to Tirana, Albania, will launch on July 10, also with two weekly flights.
“These are two destinations that were not previously served from Bordeaux,” said Nicolas Hénin, transavia’s commercial director. “With Brussels, we’re targeting both Bordeaux residents and those from Brussels, notably for leisure weekend getaways.”
Hénin highlighted the growing popularity of Albania as a tourist destination, noting the success of Transavia’s existing routes from Paris and Lyon. “We hope to see the same enthusiasm from Bordeaux travelers,” he added.
Building on Early Success
These new routes build on Transavia’s recent expansion in Bordeaux. In September, the airline announced six new destinations: Porto, Seville, Marrakech, Agadir, Istanbul, and Marseille.
“bookings for those routes have been encouraging, with an 80% load factor in December,” Hénin reported.
Transavia’s increased presence in Bordeaux is marked by the arrival of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, permanently based at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport since December 12. Prior to this expansion,Transavia had a limited presence in Bordeaux, offering only flights to Dakar (still operating) and eindhoven (discontinued).
Looking Ahead
While no further route announcements are planned for the summer 2025 schedule, Hénin emphasized that Transavia is constantly evaluating new opportunities.
The airline’s European network primarily focuses on leisure travel and visiting friends and relatives (VFR), particularly to Mediterranean destinations.however,Transavia is also expanding into new markets, such as Brussels and Marseille, which cater to both leisure and business travelers.
