Seminar Explores the Concept of Human Revolution and its Relevance in the 21st Century
A seminar sponsored by the global think tank the Club of Rome and SGI UK (Soka Gakkai International) was held online on August 27th, as part of a joint project between the two organizations.
The seminar featured a speech by SGI European Co-Chair Harapp, titled “A Wake-up Call for the 21st Century,” which highlighted the need for a human revolution in the face of global challenges. Club of Rome Secretary General Carlos Alvarez also presented an overview of ”Learning Without Limits – The Sixth Report of the Club of Rome,” which emphasized the importance of education and learning in driving positive change.
Former Club Co-President Mamphela Ramphele shared his personal experience working for the Black Consciousness Movement in South Africa, and how the philosophy of the dignity of life helped him overcome social oppression. He emphasized the need for human solidarity based on an awareness of the dignity of life and a human revolution, and expressed his hope that young people will lead this movement.
Members of the SGI UK Youth Division also presented their experiences and perspectives on the concept of human revolution, highlighting its relevance and importance in today’s world.
