Join the ‘Upcycling Repair Shop’ in Hwasun County: A Free Educational Program for Environmental Protection
Hwasun County is now recruiting students for its innovative ‘Upcycling Repair Shop that Reuses and Refurbs’ program, part of the 2024 Hwasun-type Ecological Learning City Development Project.
This 10-course educational program, starting on October 5th, offers hands-on activities that promote environmental awareness through recycling and repairing discarded resources. The program is designed to raise residents’ awareness of environmental protection and provide them with practical skills.
The courses are filled with creative activities that utilize various materials, including:
- Reforming jeans into new items
- Creating kitchen towel hangers and mini shelves from recycled materials
- Designing and making household items from upcycled materials
- Creating attachment dolls from scrap cloth
Participants will also have the opportunity to share their creations through presentations, fostering a sense of community and encouraging the sharing of ideas.
The program is free for all Hwasun County residents, and registration can be done through the Hwasun County Lifelong Learning Center website (www.hwasun.go.kr/lll). For more information, please visit the Lifelong Learning Center notice.
Cho Mi-hwa, head of the Population and Youth Policy Division, expressed her hopes for the program, stating, “I hope that through this program, citizens will realize the importance of environmental protection and learn skills that can be put into practice in their daily lives, thereby becoming an opportunity to spread a culture of resource recycling in the local community.”
