Travis Scott Makes Chart History with 10-Year-Old Mixtape
Travis Scott has achieved a remarkable feat in the music industry, with his 10-year-old mixtape, A Few Days Before the Rodeo, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Initially, the mixtape debuted at number two with over 360,000 equivalent units. However, driven almost entirely by vinyl sales, it has now reached the top spot for the first time in history.
According to Billboard, A Few Days Before the Rodeo earned 156,000 equivalent units in its fourth week, with 149,000 of those consisting of vinyl sales made exclusively through the rapper’s website.
This achievement marks the biggest-selling week ever for vinyl rap albums and the sixth-highest across all genres since tracking began in 1991.
Scott has set a record in hip-hop with his 2023 album, Utopia, which sold 93,000 vinyl copies in just one week.
A Few Days Before the Rodeo is La Flame’s fourth song to reach number one on the Billboard 200.
The Houston rapper had previously disputed the mixtape’s debut chart ranking, claiming that Billboard used “unreliable and incomplete” data to place it second behind Sabrina Carpenter’s Emails I Can’t Send.
Scott’s Cactus Jack Records sent a letter to the publisher accusing it of overemphasizing Carpenter’s independent store sales, but Billboard has taken a firm stance on the list and denied claims that the figures are inaccurate.
