The 1992 Sega Genesis role-playing game Traysia is returning to modern gaming platforms on April 24, 2026. Publishers Ratalaika Games and Shinyuden are bringing the classic 16-bit title to a wide array of current hardware, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Originally developed by Telenet Japan, the game was first released in Japan on February 14, 1992, under the full title Minato no Traysia / Traysia of the Port. A North American English localization followed in April 1992, released by Renovation Products.

Gameplay and Narrative Structure

Traysia is a traditional fantasy and romance RPG that utilizes a narrative structure divided into five distinct scenarios. The plot follows a young man named Roy who leaves his hometown of Johanna, a port town, to become a world-traveling adventurer. The story centers on Roy’s journey through various landscapes, including mountains and forests, eventually leading him to the Kingdom of Salon, while Traysia awaits his return to their home.

The upcoming release will expand the game’s accessibility by offering support for multiple languages. According to the Steam page, the new ports will be available in English, Japanese, and Spanish.

Modern Technical Enhancements

To adapt the 34-year-old title for modern audiences, Ratalaika Games and Shinyuden have integrated several quality-of-life features and emulation tools that were not present in the original 1992 release.

Modern Technical Enhancements
  • Rewind and Turbo Functions: Players can speed up gameplay or rewind actions to correct mistakes and achieve perfection in specific sequences.
  • Save State System: The new versions allow players to save their progress at any point in the game and restart from that exact moment.
  • Screen Filters: Various visual modifiers are included, such as a black-and-white mode and a retro-style monitor filter to mimic older display technology.
  • Integrated Jukebox: A dedicated music player allows users to listen to the 21 music tracks featured in the game.
  • Gallery: A digital archive providing access to images from the original game’s box design and instruction manual.
  • Cheats: The release includes built-in cheats, such as invulnerability and infinite lives.

Availability and Pricing

While the launch date is confirmed for April 24, 2026, across all listed platforms, certain commercial details remain pending. As of April 6, 2026, a price for the game has not been announced, and the PlayStation Store page had not yet gone live.

The release represents a significant revival of a long-forgotten title from the Sega Genesis era, bridging the gap between 16-bit RPG design and the capabilities of ninth-generation consoles and modern PC hardware.
