Treasury Wine Estates has agreed to sell the Rosemount, Ingoldby, and Secret Stone wine brands to A.G. Oatley Wines for an undisclosed sum, returning the prominent Rosemount label to its founding family 25 years after its initial corporate merger, according to Reuters reporting. The transaction covers the three labels and associated inventory, with completion scheduled for October 23, 2026, as confirmed across multiple reports from The Shout, Business News Australia, and Australia’s Wine Business Magazine.
Treasury Wine Estates Trims Portfolio to Thirty Priority Brands
The divestment marks another step in Treasury Wine Estates’ multi-year transformation program, known as Ascent, which was launched in the 2026 financial year. According to reporting by Business News Australia, the Penfolds maker is actively working to condense its sprawling stable of 76 brands down to a focused portfolio of 30 global and regional priority brands.
Angus Lilley, Treasury Wine Estates managing director for Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, told The Shout that the company has sold five brands and various non-priority assets since announcing its transformation agenda. The portfolio cleanup follows financial headwinds in key overseas markets, prompting the company to uncover $100 million in cost savings to manage leverage targets between 1.5 and 2.0 times, as detailed by Business News Australia.
Oatley Family Reunites With Founding Rosemount Estate
For the Oatley family, the acquisition brings home the iconic Australian label established by the late Robert Oatley in 1969. Rosemount merged with Southcorp in 2001 in a deal valued at $1.5 billion before eventually becoming part of Treasury Wine Estates following the 2011 demerger of Foster’s Group wine assets, as noted by Business News Australia and Drinks Trade.

We are thrilled to be able to bring Rosemount home to our family once again. I worked with my father building Rosemount into a globally recognised Australian brand for over 20 years. To have the opportunity to now work on the brand with my daughter Nicky is an extraordinary full circle moment.
Sandy Oatley, A.G. Oatley Wines
The purchase agreement includes McLaren Vale label Ingoldby and New Zealand brand Secret Stone alongside Rosemount. Additionally, the transaction arrives just a week after A.G. Oatley Wines acquired Murray Street Vineyards in the Barossa Valley, expanding the family’s regional winemaking footprint alongside its director of winemaking, Larry Cherubino, as reported by Australia’s Wine Business Magazine and Drinks Trade.
Transaction Terms and European Market Distribution
Under the conditions of the sale, Treasury Wine Estates retains royalty-free rights to sell Rosemount in European markets for up to three years. Business News Australia and Drinks Trade reported that customer ordering arrangements in those territories will experience no immediate changes upon the formal handover.

The final completion date for the transfer of the brands and inventory is set for October 23, 2026. The deal follows similar recent divestments by Treasury Wine Estates, including the local sales of the Seppelt, Rouge Homme, and Tollana brands, as the company redirects its capital toward luxury wine growth.
