Trent Alexander-Arnold Available for Champions League Clash Against Real Madrid, Says Liverpool Boss
Liverpool Boss Confirms Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s Availability for Champions League Match
Liverpool manager Arne Slot announced that Trent Alexander-Arnold can play against Real Madrid in the Champions League. However, he hopes not to need him on the field. Alexander-Arnold has been recovering from a hamstring injury since November 9, when he left the match against Aston Villa.
The England defender missed recent Nations League matches but trained with the team on Tuesday. Slot mentioned, “Trent is in the squad but will not be available to start. He can maybe make a few minutes, but ideally, he doesn’t have to play.”
Alexander-Arnold, aged 26, along with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, will be a free agent this summer. Real Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, declined to comment on Alexander-Arnold, stating, “He is not my player.”
Teammate Andy Robertson praised Alexander-Arnold, calling him potentially the best right-back in the world. Robertson added, “He is young enough to improve even more. He has a will to succeed and is a pleasure to play with.”
Liverpool has won all four group-phase matches in the Champions League this season. Still, they have not defeated Real Madrid in their last eight meetings since 2009. Ancelotti expressed respect for Liverpool, saying, “Liverpool is a fantastic club with fantastic supporters.”
