Lawrence’s arm sleeve raises eyebrows at Jaguars minicamp

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence arrived at this week’s mandatory minicamp sporting a protective sleeve on his throwing arm, a move that drew attention given his recent injury history. The team kicked off the three-day camp Tuesday.
Lawrence participated fully with the first-team offense, and at times, appeared in good form. He also wore the sleeve during the final organized team activity practice last Thursday.Though, it’s reappearance five days later sparked questions.
New Jaguars coach Liam coen addressed the situation, attributing the sleeve to routine maintenance. He downplayed any serious concerns about Lawrence’s health and his role on the team.
“He just had a little bit of just general soreness,” Coen said. “We threw a lot of balls last week and really leading into (minicamp) he feels good.He said it wasn’t really an issue.”
Coen added that the sleeve was primarily to keep the arm warm, a common practice among throwers. He emphasized it was “more just a maintenance than anything that’s really bothering him.”
The concern stems from Lawrence’s injury-plagued past. He has missed eight games in the last two seasons, including seven in 2024.Those absences included two games due to a non-throwing shoulder injury and the final six after a concussion.
In 2023, Lawrence also sat out a game because of a sprained right shoulder. That season, he also dealt with a sprained left knee, a sprained right ankle, and another concussion.
