Trey Miguel has confirmed that he suffered a broken patella during his match against Mustafa Ali at TNA Rebellion, an injury that will keep him out of action for the foreseeable future despite not requiring surgery.
The injury occurred on April 11, 2026, when Miguel delivered a Meteora onto the ring steps during his bout with Mustafa Ali. Despite the impact and visible damage to his knee, he completed the match, which resulted in Ali winning the TNA International Championship.
Miguel first shared concerns about his knee not improving after the event, posting a photo wearing a knee brace and acknowledging that the injury did not feel like it was healing. His suspicions were confirmed when he received a medical diagnosis revealing a fractured patella.
Taking to social media on April 22, 2026, Miguel revealed the update directly to fans, expressing disbelief at the severity of the injury given that he was able to finish the contest. “Yesterday I found out my patella is actually broken. Luckily no surgery should be necessary. Learning this blows my mind when I think about the fact that I finished that match against @MustafaAli_X at Rebellion,” he stated.
Prior to the injury, Miguel had captured the TNA International Championship at No Surrender on February 13, 2026, defeating Channing Lorenzo — also known as “Stacks” from WWE NXT — to win the title. He earned the opportunity through a victory in the Feast or Fired match held in January, which granted him a guaranteed title shot.
His reign led into a feud with Mustafa Ali and the Order 4 group, culminating at TNA Rebellion in Cleveland, where Ali defeated Miguel to claim the championship. The loss and subsequent injury represent a significant setback for Miguel, who had been riding strong momentum following his title win earlier in the year.
