Triathlete’s Struggle: Olympic Dream and Isolation in England
Czech Triathlete Tereza Zimovjanová Joins Elite British Group, Targets 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
Tereza Zimovjanová, a 29-year-old Czech triathlete, has joined an elite british triathlon training group based at Loughborough University, setting her sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. After missing the 2024 Paris Olympics, Zimovjanová sought a new training environment to elevate her performance.
“I knew I needed to do something new,as what I achieved in Prague was probably my maximum,” Zimovjanová stated in an interview with Aktualne.cz, highlighting her motivation for seeking a new training environment.
Joining the British training Group
Zimovjanová’s path to joining the British group involved researching high-quality training opportunities in Europe.she contacted the Loughborough group and visited to assess the environment. “I went there to see if it would suit us. They tested me, found out what was in me, and we agreed.I got acquainted with the conditions and the girls I was supposed to train with,” she explained.
Her submission, submitted in September, received a response in late November. While not initially admitted to their core 20-member group, she was invited to train as a guest, participating fully in the training program without the benefits afforded to domestic competitors.
