Danny Kosasih, Chairman of⁤ the Indonesian Basketball Association, Passes Away

Danny Kosasih, Chairman of the Central⁢ Administration (Ketum) of the Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi),⁣ has passed ‌away. He was 69 years old and died due to heart failure at⁢ the Medistra Hospital in Jakarta on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

The news of his passing was ‌confirmed by Perbasi’s staff and relatives, as well as the Youth and Sports Ministry‍ (Kemenpora) through its official​ Instagram account. “Sad news from the basketball world.‌ The president of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi), Danny Kosasih, has passed away on Thursday, September‍ 5, 2024,” the Youth and Sports Ministry wrote.

Danny Kosasih was born on February 20, 1955. He served as Ketum Perbasi for two terms, from 2015 to⁤ 2019 and from 2019 to 2023. During his leadership, the Indonesian men’s and‌ women’s basketball national teams won gold medals for the first time in history at the Southeast ​Asian ​Games.

Danny ‍Kosasih’s ​Life and Career

Danny Kosasih’s real name is Kho Poo Thai. He ‍learned about basketball from his father and began his ‍professional journey⁢ in⁣ basketball, training⁣ with the ⁢Kuo You Hui Semarang Basketball Association, now known as the Kumala Jaya Basketball Association.

Susuk ​began to emerge ‍as a talented⁣ player when he ⁢was selected to represent Central Java in the National Student Basketball Tournament in Jakarta in 1973. ‌He​ was voted the best player ⁢in the tournament,⁣ which ⁣marked the beginning of his successful career as a coach.

Danny Kosasih left his legacy in the world of professional ​basketball when ​he transitioned into coaching. He became Satya Wacana‌ Salatiga’s first coach ‌in the professional league and led the team for two seasons. He then left Satya Wacana to become the coach of the Indonesian⁤ U-18 national⁣ team in 2012.

Under his leadership, Indonesia successfully hosted the 2022 FIBA ​​Asia Cup and‌ the 2023 FIBA ​​Basketball World ‌Cup.​ Danny Kosasih’s contributions to Indonesian basketball will be remembered and cherished by the‍ basketball community.
