New Delhi – ‌Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ⁣announced ⁢crucial alliances with ⁢the Trinamool ⁤Congress and Samajwadi Party for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. The move solidifies Kejriwal’s position as he seeks ⁤re-election, while also highlighting the shifting political landscape⁣ in India.

Kejriwal ⁢expressed his gratitude to West Bengal Chief Minister ‌Mamata Banerjee, leader of the Trinamool Congress, for her party’s support. “I am⁣ personally grateful to Mamata Didi,” kejriwal wrote on X, formerly⁤ Twitter. ”You have always supported ⁤and blessed us in our good and bad times.”

The Trinamool⁤ Congress quickly ⁢echoed Kejriwal’s sentiment, ⁣with Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien tweeting, “We have your‍ back ‌@AamAadmiParty.”

Kejriwal also thanked Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav for his‍ party’s backing. While there was no official statement⁤ from Yadav or the Samajwadi Party, sources confirmed their ⁤intent to support ‍the AAP in the upcoming⁢ polls.

“Thank⁢ you vrey ‍much Akhilesh ji,” Kejriwal wrote in Hindi on⁤ X. “You always support and stand with us. I and the people of Delhi are grateful for ‍this.”

The alliances come as‍ Kejriwal faces a tough battle for re-election. The Congress party,a former ally⁤ in the INDIA bloc, has not yet announced its stance on the Delhi elections, leading to speculation about‌ a potential ‍partnership with the ‌Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kejriwal has publicly criticized the Congress for what he ‍perceives ⁣as a discreet alliance with the BJP.

The upcoming‌ Delhi elections are expected to be closely contested, with the AAP,BJP,and Congress‍ all ⁣vying for‍ control ⁢of the ‍national capital. The alliances forged by Kejriwal could ‌prove⁤ crucial in determining the outcome of⁣ the election.

AAP Gears Up ⁣for delhi assembly Elections, Spars with⁤ Congress

New Delhi, January 7, 2025 ⁤ – The Aam ‍Aadmi Party (AAP) is gearing up for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, receiving endorsements from key opposition parties‍ while engaging in a heated battle with the Congress.

The Trinamool Congress and the ⁣Samajwadi Party, both ⁢members of the INDIA bloc, have ⁢thrown their support behind⁤ AAP,echoing their backing in the 2020 ⁢Delhi ⁤assembly elections. Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien took to X (formerly Twitter)⁢ to endorse not only AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal⁤ for Chief Minister but ‌also all AAP candidates. Samajwadi ⁤Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also congratulated Kejriwal on ⁤the party’s resounding victory in the 2020 ⁤elections.

Though, the AAP’s relationship with the Congress⁤ remains ⁤strained. After Congress leader Ashok Gehlot questioned AAP’s ‍chances of victory in the upcoming ⁤polls, Kejriwal fired back, accusing the Congress of openly revealing its true intentions.

“The Congress has made ‌it clear that the ⁤AAP is ⁣its opposition in ⁤Delhi,” Kejriwal wrote on X.”People also felt that AAP is the opposition for ‍Congress and BJP is its partner. People‍ also believed that BJP‍ and⁢ Congress are fighting the elections together against AAP. Till now ‌this cooperation between ‍you two⁣ was secret. Today ⁤you have made it public.Thank you on‌ behalf of the⁤ people‌ of Delhi.”

The AAP and Congress, despite being⁣ allies in the INDIA bloc for‌ the ⁢2024 Lok Sabha elections, are contesting the Delhi Assembly⁢ elections separately. ‍ Their rivalry ⁢intensified after both⁤ parties blamed each⁣ other for the poor performance of the INDIA bloc⁢ in delhi during the parliamentary elections.

Tensions escalated further last⁣ month when Delhi Congress leader Ajay Maken called the Lok Sabha alliance with AAP a “mistake.” The AAP threatened⁣ to demand the ⁣Congress’s removal from the ⁣INDIA bloc if ⁢the⁢ party didn’t take action against Maken.

The battle for Delhi is set to be a fierce one. Voting ⁤for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on February 5, with ⁣results ‍announced on February 8. The Congress, which held power in Delhi for 15⁣ consecutive‌ years,⁢ has struggled in‍ recent elections,‍ failing to win any seats in 2020. In contrast, the AAP dominated ⁣the 2020 elections, securing 62 out ⁤of 70 seats, while the BJP⁣ won only eight.
