The xx returned to the stage for their first full concert together in eight years on April 3, 2026, performing at the Pepsi Center in Mexico City. The appearance marks the first time the trio has played a full gig since July 2018, ending a lengthy hiatus during which members focused on individual artistic pursuits.

According to reporting from Rolling Stone and Consequence, the group delivered a career-spanning 19-song setlist that incorporated material from their three studio albums and their recent solo catalogs. The performance opened with Crystalised from their 2009 debut album, xx.

The setlist featured several of the band’s most prominent tracks, including Islands, Say Something Loving, I Dare You, and Intro. The band also performed Angels from their 2012 sophomore release.

Integration of Solo Projects

During the mid-section of the show, the members rotated to perform songs from their solo work released during the band’s absence. Jamie xx performed Loud Places and his collaboration with Gil Scott-Heron, I’ll Take Care of U. Oliver Sim performed GMT, and Romy performed Enjoy Your Life.

This integration follows a period of significant solo productivity for the trio. Oliver Sim released his first solo album, Hideous Bastard, in 2022. Romy released her debut album, Mid Air, in 2023. Jamie xx followed his 2015 album In Colour with the release of In Waves in 2024.

The concert concluded with a three-song encore consisting of Night Time, Sunset, and Infinity.

Touring and Future Plans

The Mexico City performance was the first of three sold-out shows scheduled at the Pepsi Center. Following these dates, the band is set to perform a major set at Coachella on Friday, April 10, 2026.

The group has announced a limited run of festival appearances throughout 2026. In addition to Coachella, the band is scheduled to appear at:

  • Primavera Sound
  • Lollapalooza
  • Osheaga
  • Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City
  • Outside Lands in San Francisco

When announcing the Mexico City shows on social media, the band stated: It’s been a while since our last show together as The xx. In 2026, we share our music with you all live again.

While the band has not yet confirmed a new album or a full-scale comeback tour, they revealed in 2024 that a wide open new project was in development.
