Triumphant Return: Shaanxi Paralympic Heroes Bring Home 9 Medals from Paris

Shaanxi Athletes Return‌ with Honors from Paris Paralympics

On the afternoon of September 11, 10 athletes‌ from Shaanxi Province who participated in the 17th ‌Summer Paralympic‍ Games ​returned‌ with honors to Xi’an ‌North Railway Station.

Impressive Record

In these Paralympic Games, 10 ​athletes from Shaanxi ⁤Province​ participated in 30⁢ events in 4 ⁣sports ‍including ‍swimming, table tennis, archery, and track ⁢and⁣ field, and won 2 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze, 3 ​fourth places, 7 fifth places, 2 sixth places, ‍2 seventh places, 2 Asian records and 1 world record.

Athletes’⁣ Reaction

“The moment we walked out of the station,‍ I was very happy to see so many⁣ elders from my hometown welcoming us. It feels so good ‍to go home,” said⁢ Wu Chunyan, ⁣a female‌ athlete from Xi’an who won the ⁣individual women’s return archery open class gold ⁢medal at this Paralympic Games.

Welcoming Ceremony

Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Disabled Persons and ⁤Xi’an Municipal Disabled Persons’ Federation organized a welcoming team ‍to welcome Shaanxi participating ‍in the Paris Paralympic Games​ Athletes return triumphantly.

Liu Rongxian, Party Secretary and Chairman of ⁢the Shaanxi Provincial Disabled People’s Federation, ‍on behalf of the Party Group and Council of the‍ Provincial Disabled People’s‌ Federation, extended a warm welcome and sincere respect to all ‌the athletes, ⁣coaches and team leaders for their honorable return.

Outstanding‍ Athletes

Among the‌ 10 Shaanxi athletes, Wu Chunyan, Dong Feixia, Peng Weinan ⁣and Zhai Xiang are outstanding disabled athletes⁢ who were sent to the provincial and national teams from‌ Xi’an Games.

Wu Chunyan, 35, said frankly that the ​biggest difference between this time and her previous Paralympics is that she⁣ has become a “mother competitor”.

Dong Feixia, 35, ⁣is taking part in the Paralympic ​Games for the ⁣fourth time with a medal. “It’s true that ⁣I have some‌ regrets, and I hope I get a chance to make up ​for it in the⁣ future.”

Table tennis player Peng Weinan is only 22 years old, ​who is ‍competing in the Paralympic Games for the second time, this time, he and his mixed doubles ​partner⁢ Xiong Guiyan won the XD17 mixed doubles silver medal.

Another table‍ tennis player, Zhai Xiang, won mixed doubles and is looking forward to the Paralympic Games next⁤ year.

Future Goals

Whether it is Dong Feixia, Wu Chunyan,‍ Zhai Xiang, who has passed ⁣their thirties,⁤ or Peng Weinan, who⁢ is in his prime,​ they are all ‌looking ‌forward to⁢ the Paralympic Games next⁢ year.

“After a⁣ short holiday, we will return to the ⁣training ground and face ​a new challenge!” said Dong Feixia.
